Outer Sunset Basement Conversion
This project was designed by 2M Architecture of San Francisco which converted an unfinished basement in the outer sunset to more living space. The clients added 1100 square feet to their single-family home.
The home originally had a large indoor/outdoor entry which was unused in their day-to-day living
The Front door was moved so that they could enclose this entry and make it a real living space. They added a second bathroom at the new downstairs and 2 new bedrooms.
The foundation was reconfigured and to do this in the dunes of the outer sunset, the sand was frozen so the foundation could be dug. Other seismic upgrades to the first floor were added as well.
